The perpetrator received $15,000 for creating grounds for illegal exit of a man
The Mohyliv-Podilskyi City District Court sentenced a 41-year-old resident of the Zhmerynka district to seven years and six months in prison. For a monetary reward, the woman helped a person liable for military service to go abroad through a sham marriage. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The defendant had a group I disability. The official status of her spouse would allow a person liable for military service, who provides care, to receive a deferment from mobilization and the right to cross the state border without hindrance.
In the summer of 2025, the perpetrator offered a man of conscription age to enter into a sham marriage for the purpose of leaving Ukraine. She demanded $15,000 for her services. To implement the scheme, the woman divorced her real partner and officially entered into a new relationship in October.
Detention at the border
After receiving the funds, the couple set off for the Mohyliv-Podilskyi district. The perpetrators planned to cross the state border but were detained by law enforcement officers while attempting to escape. During the court proceedings, the woman did not plead guilty.
The court found her guilty under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. In addition to the main sentence of imprisonment, the woman was banned for three years from engaging in activities related to the provision of services in the tourism sector, visa support, and mediation in the legalization of citizens abroad. Confiscation of property was also applied.
Currently, the period provided by law for filing an appeal is ongoing. The investigation of the case was carried out by investigators of the Zhmerynka District Police Department, with operational support provided by the Migration Police and the SBU Office in Vinnytsia Region.
