Odesa region becomes the fifth in Ukraine to test 5G technology capabilities
A technical implementation of the 5G pilot project has taken place in Odesa to test the network under local conditions. Previously, the technology was launched for testing in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, and Borodianka. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing the Telegram channel of Odesa Regional State Administration.
The implementation of this pilot initiative aims beyond simply increasing data transmission speeds for users. The new standard ensures optimized loads on telecommunications infrastructure and creates opportunities for scaling digital services and deploying intelligent systems.
Testing innovative technologies
The main objective of the project is to study the standard’s functionality within local conditions. The data collected will serve as a foundation for the subsequent rollout of a full-scale network following the end of martial law.
The experience gained during regional trials will be utilized to develop a modern digital ecosystem for the area. Local authorities highlighted the significance of this cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and telecommunications operators.
Advancing the technological base remains a priority despite complex security challenges. These implemented solutions are intended to strengthen the long-term infrastructural potential of the Odesa region and the state as a whole.
