The Warsaw Metro transferred 60 cars to the capital free of charge
NABU detectives and SAP prosecutors exposed the embezzlement of ₴137.5 million during the transportation of donated cars to Kyiv Metro. A former official of the capital's metro is involved in the scheme. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing the Telegram channel of NABU, based on data from SAPO.
At the end of 2022, the Warsaw Metro expressed readiness to transfer sixty subway cars to the Kyiv underground free of charge. To organize their delivery, the municipal enterprise held relevant tender procedures in 2023.
Inflated transportation costs
A pre-determined commercial structure became the winner in the procurement of transport and forwarding services. It offered to perform the transportation at a significantly inflated price, with a total value reaching 190 million hryvnias.
The received funds from the accounts of the winning company were transferred to another controlled organization located abroad. Part of these financial resources was directed to the actual carrier for services actually performed.
Misappropriation of municipal enterprise funds
The rest of the financial resources in the amount of 137.5 million hryvnias were kept by the participants of the illegal scheme at their own disposal. Investigative actions in this criminal proceeding are currently ongoing.
