Welded anti-drone hedgehogs and an electronic warfare system failed to save the vehicle
Operators of the 413th Unmanned Systems Regiment Raid of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have struck a Russian BREM-1 armoured recovery vehicle. The drone strike was carried out in the temporarily occupied area of Zaporizhzhia Region. This was reported by Ukrinform citing 413th Unmanned Systems Regiment Raid, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The specialised BREM-1 vehicle is used by occupying forces for field evacuation and subsequent repair of damaged tanks as well as other heavy armoured vehicles.
Vehicles of this type remain scarce in the Russian military. Despite the large quantity of produced tanks, maintenance and recovery support in the Russian armed forces remains a standard weak point.
Drone protection fails to prevent strike
Russian troops attempted to maximise the protection of the rare asset by outfitting it with an electronic warfare system and welding protective metal hedgehogs. However, this did not prevent the Ukrainian drone from successfully hitting the target.
«The enemy tried to protect this unit as much as possible – equipping it with an EW system and welding ‘hedgehogs’ – but the Raid drone successfully struck it», the regiment stated.
Strikes on enemy logistics infrastructure
Alongside targeting recovery hardware on the front lines, the Defence Forces of Ukraine continue to systematically degrade the enemy’s logistical network.
Previously, Ukrainian forces hit several logistics and supply depots operated by Russian troops near Kripenske in Luhansk Region, Rivnopil in Donetsk Region, and Lahidne in Zaporizhzhia Region.
