The court sentenced the GRU agent to a total of 30 years in prison for sabotage
An agent of the russian military intelligence from the Kharkiv region has received a new court verdict of 15 years in prison with confiscation of property for destroying railway equipment. Previously, this individual was sentenced to a similar term for blowing up a car belonging to a Ukrainian serviceman. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from Security Service of Ukraine.
SBU officers previously neutralised the enemy intelligence’s agent-combat group in the summer of 2024. Law enforcement officers then detained all four members of the cell involved in the assassination attempt on a Ukrainian soldier by blowing up his vehicle.
New sentence for sabotage
In August 2026, the convicted person received the first 15-year prison term for organising the explosion that left the soldier severely wounded. Now the court has issued another guilty verdict for committing new crimes against the national security of the state.
According to the investigation, a resident of the Kharkiv suburb worked as a labourer before starting to cooperate with the occupiers. He reached out to the enemy special service through an acquaintance from Donetsk who fights as part of the so-called DNR special forces.
Preparation for arson
While carrying out russian intelligence tasks, the agent destroyed critical transport infrastructure facilities. Specifically, the perpetrator purchased a flammable mixture and poured it onto Ukrzaliznytsia electrical equipment.
The courts qualified these actions under Part 2 of Article 15 and Part 2 of Article 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This concerns a completed attempted sabotage committed under martial law.
Law enforcement efforts
The investigation into the illegal activities of the offender was conducted by SBU officers in the Kharkiv region. Procedural supervision over this criminal case was provided by the regional prosecutor’s office.
