The 50-year-old local resident faces up to five years in prison
A criminal case has been initiated against a 50-year-old local resident in temporarily occupied Sevastopol over comments posted in the Telegram messenger. According to law enforcement agencies, the suspect faces up to five years of imprisonment. This was reported by Suspilne Crimea citing FSB Directorate for Crimea and Sevastopol, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The criminal proceedings involve a 50-year-old citizen registered in the temporarily controlled territory of the peninsula. Public statements left in a messenger chat served as the formal grounds for the prosecution.
Law enforcement officers classified these messages as containing calls for violence against a specific group of people based on national identity. The case was launched following monitoring activities conducted by the security services.
Five Years Imprisonment
Investigative actions are currently ongoing within the framework of the occupying administration’s legal system. The maximum penalty under the incriminated charge provides for deprivation of liberty for up to five years.
Earlier, another criminal case involving a resident of the same city was forwarded to the Southern District Military Court. That individual faces charges related to high treason and participation in a terrorist organization.
