Donald Trump justified Russian strikes on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure

The US President called the war a 'bloodbath' and claimed civilian losses in Russia

US President Donald Trump, responding to a question regarding the deaths of Ukrainian civilians from Russian strikes, pointed to civilian losses in Russia. The official characterized the ongoing war as a 'bloodbath'. This was reported by Glavcom, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

During a media briefing, the head of the United States commented on the Russian army’s systematic attacks on Ukrainian residential areas, educational facilities, and civilian transport. Rather than condemning the aggressor’s actions, he shifted the focus of the discussion to the Russian side, claiming that similar tragedies occur there as well.

According to the US President, he has raised this issue repeatedly, but always emphasizes that civilian casualties are occurring on both sides of the conflict. He described the events in Ukraine as a total ‘bloodbath’.

Diplomatic contacts

Meanwhile, the Kremlin is exploring the possibility of holding negotiations between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. A potential meeting could take place at the APEC summit in Shenzhen, China.

This matter was raised on October 21 during a dialogue between the Russian dictator and US special envoy Steve Witkoff. The future of such negotiations has not yet been officially confirmed.

Kyiv’s position

In turn, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that there is no point in inviting Vladimir Putin to the capital of Ukraine. He made these remarks during a press briefing with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

«We are not inviting Putin to Kyiv. They arrived uninvited in 2022. But there is no point in inviting them — they will not come, and it is destructive,» said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The Ukrainian leader also added that visits to Moscow are unacceptable, as they are perceived as an insult to the international community that seeks an end to the war.
