US President Donald Trump explained why Ukraine has now faded into the background for Washington. According to him, the United States is now more focused on the situation in Iran, and not on Russia’s war against Ukraine.
With reference to Forbes, Trump said this in response to a question from journalists, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
When asked directly about the peace talks, the US president did not give a specific answer.
“Ukraine is moving forward. I wish they could agree. To be honest, many people are dying in Ukraine. We’ll see what happens,” he said.
Iran in priority
Trump said directly where his focus is now.
“Now we are very focused on Iran, we are looking to see if we can complete this,” he said.
According to him, the agreement with Iran will be “without nuclear weapons.” He also noted that the stock market is in good condition, and oil prices are falling – and he considers this to be positive signals.
In parallel, Trump announced a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the President of Lebanon. According to him, both sides are ready for a truce, which will affect Hezbollah.
Negotiations on Iran continue
When asked about the specific timing of the next round of negotiations, Trump answered blurry.
“They are all important. That is, this is not a matter of one round. They are all next,” the US president said.
