Ukrainian households have begun receiving electricity bills with updated, higher tariffs. The increase came into effect at the beginning of the month, and the first charges already show a significant increase in the amounts in the bills. This is reported by “Pershy Biznesovy“, the PromPolitInform portal reports.
The relevant departments explain that the tariff adjustment became necessary due to large-scale damage to the energy infrastructure and the need for stable financing of repairs and preparation for the next peak consumption seasons. According to energy experts, the new prices should ensure the uninterrupted operation of the system and reduce the risks of accidents.
The increase will be felt most by those consumers who use a lot of electricity – in particular for heating or operating energy-intensive appliances. At the same time, the government emphasizes that support programs will operate for socially vulnerable categories, and some households may qualify for subsidies.
