Since the beginning of the year, established losses during procurement for the Defense Forces reached UAH 3.9 billion. Law enforcement officers notified 488 persons of suspicion and sent hundreds of indictments to court. This is reported by Economichna Pravda. The portal PromPolitInform reports.
Specialized defense prosecutor’s offices focused their efforts on areas with increased financial and mobilization risks. This includes military procurement, personnel payments, corruption during conscription, and violations during border crossings.
During the specified period, suspicions were announced to 488 individuals within 384 criminal proceedings. Already 530 indictments have been transferred to judicial authorities.
The largest volume of financial losses was recorded in the procurement of equipment, food, and the construction of protective structures. Violations in this sector caused losses amounting to UAH 3.9 billion, with UAH 554.9 million already returned to the state.
Funds were directed to fictitious procurements and inflated prices
Within these proceedings, 132 individuals received suspicions, and 86 indictments were sent to court, including 29 regarding military unit commanders. Undelivered property and inflated work costs pose a direct threat to army supplies.
A separate block includes corruption payments and abuses involving servicemen’s monetary allowances. The total amount of such losses exceeded UAH 251.6 million due to illegal accruals.
The largest share consists of illegal combat bonus payments amounting to UAH 174.6 million to individuals who did not perform combat tasks. In addition, UAH 22.8 million was paid based on forged documents.
Exposing draft evasion schemes continues
The prosecutor’s office documented violations related to fictitious unfitness and illegal deferrals through territorial recruitment centers and medical commissions. For such services, about UAH 23 million in unlawful benefits was recorded in the form of money, cars, and fuel vouchers.
Based on these facts, suspicions were announced to 52 officials, 75 indictments were sent to court, 13 of which concern territorial recruitment center and medical commission heads. In the sphere of illegal border crossings, the amount of bribes exceeded UAH 35 million.
In addition, prosecutors are actively working on returning illegally alienated defense property and lands. This year, lawsuits worth UAH 44.9 billion were filed, and courts satisfied claims worth UAH 36.3 billion.
«Behind every such service lies not only a bribe, but also a direct blow to the state’s mobilization capacity», — explained Ruslan Kravchenko.
