Officer of the Central Directorate of Innovation Activities of the ZSU Andriy Onistrat stated that the Ukrainian army has undergone radical transformation over four years of full-scale war. Significant changes have affected both the composition of personnel and combat tactics on the frontline.

This was reported by Glavcom, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

According to the officer, the modern military differs significantly from the one in 2022. Today, the share of professional military personnel in the ranks of the ZSU is only about 2%, while the rest are individuals who joined the army later. At the same time, a new culture of communication is forming within the troops, where horizontal connections and individual initiative play a more significant role than at the beginning of the invasion by the rf.

Transformation of frontline tactics

The conditions for performing tasks directly on the contact line have also changed cardinally. While previously military personnel could move freely by vehicle, now, due to the mass use of enemy drones, kill zones with a depth of up to 25 kilometers have emerged. This forces combatants to reach positions only on foot or by using ground-based robotic complexes.

Complicated logistics have led to an increase in the time units spend on the frontlines. As Andriy Onistrat noted, the duty period, which previously was limited to three days, now often reaches 40 days of continuous presence at a position. Long rotations have become a new reality, after which fighters are granted the opportunity for short-term rest at home.
