European partners are adopting Ukrainian methods for protecting energy assets from attacks
Representatives from Estonia's ministry and energy companies visited DTEK Energo sites to study the operational experience of TPPs during the full-scale war. Foreign experts familiarized themselves with technical solutions for infrastructure recovery and physical protection. Ukraine is now sharing its unique practices for maintaining the energy system under constant military threats with its partners. Over years of the full-scale invasion, specialists in the domestic energy sector have formed a comprehensive approach to countering the consequences of Russian shelling and performing emergency repairs on damaged equipment.
Critical infrastructure protection methods
The Estonian delegation, including officials from the relevant ministry and leaders of energy companies, arrived at the company’s thermal power plants for a detailed analysis of Ukrainian developments. The visit allowed the guests to observe how repair teams and energy workers operate directly under military pressure.
During their tour, international colleagues examined the organization of physical security systems for critical plant nodes. Most of the technical solutions and safety protocols presented to the Estonian side were developed by Ukrainian specialists after the full-scale war began.
European energy system resilience
Increased interest from European countries in the Ukrainian experience signals a shift in EU security approaches. Energy risks previously considered purely theoretical are now subjects of practical preparation for energy systems across many nations.
Exchanging knowledge with partners is seen not just as technical cooperation, but as a tool for strengthening the resilience of the pan-European energy space. Ukraine continues to implement a strategy that minimizes the impact of constant attacks on electricity generation stability.
