Conditions for granting old-age pensions and specifics for residents of combat zones
The Pension Fund of Ukraine has outlined the legally established deadlines for assigning old-age pensions and the procedure for calculating payments in various life situations. Citizens can submit documents at any time after acquiring the right to payments, but no earlier than one month before reaching retirement age. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from Pension Fund of Ukraine.
Applications for old-age pensions can be submitted at any time after acquiring the respective right, but no earlier than one month before the person reaches the required age. Standard payment accrual begins on the day after reaching retirement age, provided that the document package is received no later than three months after this date.
If the future retiree applies to the agency later than the three-month period after reaching retirement age, accruals start directly from the day the application is submitted. At the same time, special rules apply to residents of territories where hostilities are ongoing or which are under occupation.
Specifics of payment accrual during martial law
Temporary regulations for the period of martial law and three months after its termination apply to citizens from combat zones and temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine. The condition is that the standard application deadline had not expired as of February 24, 2022.
For such individuals, the old-age pension is assigned from the day following the attainment of retirement age. Disability benefits are established from the day the disability group is determined, and survivor benefits start the day after death.
Special categories of pension provision
Length-of-service pensions for the respective category of citizens are assigned from the day following dismissal from work that grants such a right. However, the law sets a restriction: payments in such cases are accrued no earlier than February 24, 2022.
Certain types of payments, in particular old-age pensions, can be assigned fully automatically without a citizen’s personal application. In such cases, funding opens from the day following the person’s attainment of retirement age, taking into account the norms of specialized laws.
