The artificial embankment built by Russians aimed to alter the status of the Kerch Strait
The conflict surrounding Tuzla Island, where Russians attempted to build an artificial embankment, demonstrated Moscow's refusal to accept Ukraine's independence and served as a precursor to future war. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing the Telegram channel of Crimean Wind.
The creation of an artificial dam toward Ukrainian territory was viewed as an attempt to revise the status of the Kerch Strait. According to Mykola Porovsky, one of the founders of the modern Ukrainian state, such actions demonstrated russia’s unwillingness to recognize the neighboring country’s sovereignty from the very moment the Soviet Union collapsed.
Security specialists and experts qualify this incident as an early test of Kyiv’s reaction to aggressive moves. The events at the maritime border effectively tested Ukrainian resilience against coercive pressure.
Analysts agree that the maneuvers near the spit served as an initial phase for practicing the techniques of future hybrid operations. The experience gained was subsequently used by the Kremlin during the full-scale occupation of the peninsula in 2014.
