The Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Gennady Shapovalov introduced the personnel of the new commander of the operational command “East” – Major General Viktor Nikolyuk.

The commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Gennady Shapovalov, introduced the personnel of the new commander of the operational command “East” Major General Viktor Nikolyuk.
Shapovalov thanked for the service the previous head of the operational command – Brigadier General Dmitry Bratishko and wished him success in the new place.
During the event, the Commander of the Ground Forces heard a report on the operational situation in the area of responsibility, identified the main tasks and priorities. He instructed to focus on the qualitative performance of combat missions, to comprehensively promote the development of subordinate military units, to ensure their combat capability, and to monitor and constantly improve the level of training.
It is noted that earlier Viktor Dmitrievich Nikolyuk commanded the 92nd separate mechanized brigade, the 169th Training Center and the operational command “North.” At the beginning of a full-scale invasion, he led the defense of the Chernihiv region. March 10, 2022 received the title of Hero of Ukraine.
