Ukraine and Netherlands agree on joint production of drones and strengthening defense cooperation

The countries agreed to launch joint production of drones and investments from Amsterdam.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of the Netherlands Rob Yetten signed an agreement on defense cooperation. The signing took place on April 16 during an online broadcast, informs the portal PromPolitInform.

“Ukrainians and we want to jointly develop our industry further so that it is favorable for both Ukraine and us. We will strengthen our capabilities, the Dutch industry will play a big role in this,” Yetten said at a press conference following a meeting with Zelensky.

He noted that Amsterdam invests 482 million euros in defense cooperation.

Zelensky added that Ukraine’s proposal is Drone Deal. This applies not only to the development of drones as such, but to comprehensive development: the protection of the sky from missiles and drones, the development of electronic warfare (EW), joint weapons production in the Netherlands.

Why it matters. Ukraine is gradually moving from a country that is fighting with the weapons of the allies, to a country that itself shares military technologies. Kyiv is already helping the Gulf countries to strengthen their air defense, the Ukrainian military advises the Arab states during Iran’s attacks.

The parties also agreed to cooperate to further protect and develop Ukrainian energy, in particular its decentralization. There is the first draft for such actions, says the Ukrainian leader.
