Czech initiative on ammunition for the Armed Forces of Ukraine faced a shortage of funds

The project for the purchase of shells for Ukraine is currently experiencing a serious financial deficit, despite the transfer of about two million large-caliber ammunition for the entire period of work. Available resources are enough to pay less than half of the required supply.

It is reported by iROZHLAS, informs the portal PromPolitInform.

Key partners, including Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark, have reduced activity in financing the project due to economic difficulties and changing priorities. The new Czech government confirmed its participation in the initiative, but decided not to increase the volume of its own cash contribution.

Today, the contribution of this program provides about 45% of all ammunition supplies to Ukraine, and in the segment of 155-mm shells – more than half.

Despite the high assessment of the effectiveness of the mechanism by the Ukrainian leadership, the overall level of support from the Allies continues to decline. Lack of funds jeopardizes the further stability of artillery support of the armed forces against the background of the aggression of the Russian Federation. Experts note that thanks to the initiative, the Czech Republic has received diplomatic recognition, but further success depends entirely on the willingness of donors to continue investing. Without attracting new funds, the project will not be able to cover the critical needs of the front in the near future.

It is known that part of the funds received from income from Russian assets frozen in the European Union will be used to supply ammunition to Ukraine as part of the Czech initiative to purchase shells for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Czech Ministry of Defense reported that it was preparing to launch a second initiative to supply artillery ammunition to Ukraine.
