The government launches a 50+ employment program: how it will work and who guarantees the preservation of payments

In Ukraine, the national program “Experience Matters” is launched, aimed at the employment and adaptation of specialists aged 50 and over. The project should be a response to the acute shortage of personnel in critical sectors of the economy.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the statement of Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko on Telegram,

  • The government is launching a national program “Experience Matters,” which focuses on the employment and internship of Ukrainians aged 50+.
  • The project is being implemented jointly with the State Employment Center and business to overcome the shortage of personnel in the fields of construction and defense industry.
  • The program includes three stages: preparation for market requirements (training), meeting with the employer and internship with the possibility of further employment.
  • The goal of the initiative is to remove age barriers and help experienced professionals adapt to the digital requirements of modern companies.

Why this is important for the economy

According to Sviridenko, the lack of specialists is now one of the biggest challenges for the country, especially in the construction and defense industries. The government relies on people with experience, as they are the basis of economic sustainability.

The study “The labor market after 50 years” showed that employers value the reliability of such workers, but 60% of companies still have age stereotypes, and 65% indicate a lack of digital skills among candidates.

How the program will work

The internship program, which is implemented jointly with the State Employment and Business Center, consists of three stages:

Training: updating resumes and gaining practical skills in accordance with the requirements of the modern market.
Communication: meeting with a potential employer to discuss the format of cooperation.
Practice: short-term internship directly in the company with the possibility of further official employment.
