New truck weighing systems being installed at the Port of Constanta

The Port of Constanta has begun installing Weight in Motion systems to control truck weights on the move. The equipment will allow weighing vehicles without stopping and will integrate into a single traffic management platform.

This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform citing USM — ports and shipping, based on data from Adevărul.

The Port of Constanta has begun installing new technological complexes to determine the mass of road transport without the need to stop. Infrastructure work has already covered several checkpoints of the Romanian port complex.

The first such complexes appeared at entrances numbered 7 and 10 bis. At the same time, construction activities continue at entrances number 10 and 14.

Modern equipment uses fiber-optic sensors and is designed for a total weight load of up to 200 tons. The maximum load per axle is up to 20 tons.

The system will monitor vehicle weight while in motion

The weighing procedure will take place directly during the movement of vehicles. The permissible speed of vehicles for correct measurements ranges from 5 to 90 kilometers per hour.

The obtained data will be transmitted to the general port traffic control platform. Representatives of the port administration note that this will make it possible to predict transport congestion in advance.

Thanks to digital integration, logistics services will be able to promptly redirect vehicle flows. Such measures will help prevent traffic jams and the blocking of access roads.
