The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry also accused European countries of disrupting the peace dialogue
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has issued demands to the US government regarding the release of Nicolas Maduro and the cessation of liquidations targeting Iranian officials. The Russian diplomat also criticized the stance of European states concerning their support for Ukraine. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Юлія Капітонова) citing the Telegram channel of TASS, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
In his statement, the head of the Russian foreign policy department called on Washington to immediately release Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro along with his wife. Moscow insists on receiving guarantees that such incidents will not be repeated in the future.
Demands Regarding the Iranian Regime
Lavrov devoted particular attention to the Iranian issue, demanding that the United States stop operations targeting officials of the Iranian state. The Kremlin characterized such actions as a display of power politics, which it claims is unacceptable in international relations.
To resolve tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, the minister considers it necessary to restore trust between Tehran and the Arab countries of the region. He did not provide any constructive proposals, limiting himself to lodging complaints against the American side.
Accusations Against Europe
The Russian official also leveled accusations at European allies, claiming that they are allegedly facilitating strikes on Russian territory. Lavrov asserts that European actions are aimed at derailing the prospects for peace negotiations regarding Ukraine.
The diplomat added that all threats to Russian security from Kyiv, in his view, will be eliminated by the results of the so-called “special military operation.” In addition, Lavrov issued threats against European countries, promising them a “very short” war.
