Participants called on Europe to increase military assistance to Kyiv
A rally was held on Old Town Square in Prague to support Ukrainian defenders and call on Europe to increase military assistance to Ukraine. The event brought together members of the public and fighters from the 39th Separate Unmanned Systems Battalion of the 19th Army Corps. This was reported by Ukrinform, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
Residents and members of the diaspora gathered on Old Town Square in the Czech capital, displaying the national flags of Ukraine and Czechia while singing the national anthem. Ukrainian service members visiting the country for NATO Days, a visit to the Embassy of Ukraine, and a charity evening joined the gathering. Among the guests were representatives of the 39th Separate Unmanned Systems Battalion of the 19th Army Corps, including the strike unmanned aerial vehicle company commander with the call sign “Student”, the 6th strike UAV company commander “Kalyamba”, and the 6th company technician “Tinovykov”.
Symbolic Flag from Kramatorsk
The fighters brought a fragment of a Ukrainian flag from Kramatorsk to Czechia, which had repeatedly survived Russian drone attacks before being returned to position by the Armed Forces each time. The banner visited the frontline and Kyiv earlier in the week, and was displayed at Prague Castle alongside a Czech flag that witnessed the 1968 Prague Spring and was stained with the blood of those resisting Soviet occupiers. The relic was also presented to the participants of the rally on Old Town Square.
Defense of Independence and Oleshky Tragedy
Anastasiia Signalievska, co-founder of the Voice of Ukraine initiative and organizer of the event, emphasized the importance of supporting Ukraine and countering Russian aggression. “This flag is a symbol of what the struggle is about today. Russia is trying to destroy the Ukrainian presence — from the flag over a Ukrainian city in the Donetsk region to Ukraine’s very ability to exist as an independent state,” noted Anastasiia Signalievska. In addition, the participants drew the attention of square visitors to the tragedy in temporarily occupied Oleshky, where Russian invaders are currently committing crimes against civilians.
