Head of the Patrol Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine Yevgeny Zhukov resigned from his post after the terrorist attack in Kyiv on April 18. He stated this during a press conference on the shooting, UNN reports with reference to the telethon. The PromPolitInform portal reports.
“As a combat officer, I have decided to submit a report for dismissal from the position I hold. I believe that this will be fair,” Zhukov said.
According to him, some patrol police officers who worked at the scene acted improperly.
“They were poorly oriented and left wounded civilians in danger. A very shameful incident. An official investigation will be conducted and all leaders will be held accountable for these actions,” he noted.
At the same time, the head of the National Police of Ukraine, Ivan Vyhivskyi, noted that Zhukov “will be found some other position.”
“Perhaps it will be related to assistance specifically regarding the war,” he noted.
We will remind that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine summoned the head of the Patrol Police Department, Yevhen Zhukov, to a plenary session to provide a report on the actions of his subordinates during the resonant events of April 18, 2026 in Kyiv.
At the same time, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko, commented on the actions of law enforcement officers during the terrorist attack in Kyiv and announced an internal investigation and possible personnel decisions.
