The US Department of Defense has signed framework agreements with aerospace and defence corporations Boeing and RTX. The deals aim to expand the manufacturing of components for air defence missiles.

The United States Department of Defense has signed framework agreements with American corporations Boeing and RTX. The cooperation is designed to increase the production of components for air defence munitions of the SM-3 Block IIA and SM-3 Block IB models.
According to the US Department of Defense, these contracts aim to accelerate and boost the production of critical surface-to-air missiles. These interceptors are launched from warships and form the core of the Aegis missile defence system.
Strengthening missile defence and other US military contracts
The Pentagon has not disclosed any further details regarding the terms of the signed framework agreements, funding volumes, or component delivery schedules.
Previously, it was reported that defence giants Raytheon and Lockheed Martin expressed concerns over the potential licensing of Ukraine to modernise Patriot missiles. The US manufacturers fear that the Ukrainian side might be able to produce these surface-to-air missiles faster and at a significantly lower cost.
Prior to this, the US Department of Defense signed a major contract with Lockheed Martin worth up to 58.6 billion dollars. This agreement covers the production of interceptor missiles for Patriot air defence systems.
