Ukraine Sees Surge in Demand and Higher Salaries for Technical Specialists Ahead of Heating Season

Median salaries for heating system installers have reached 48,000 hryvnias

Ahead of the heating season, Ukraine's labor market has seen an increased demand for infrastructure maintenance specialists, with top offered salaries reaching 48,000 hryvnias per month. This is evidenced by data from an OLX Work analysis for August 2025 and 2026. This was reported by Socportal citing OLX Work, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

Prior to the cold season, employers are actively seeking workers responsible for the stable operation of boiler houses, power grids, ventilation, and backup power systems. The largest surge in new job listings was recorded for heating system installers, with the figure increasing by 57% compared to last year.

The number of vacancies for ventilation engineers grew by 40%, while for boiler operators it increased by 13%. At the same time, demand for energy specialists and electricians rose by 9% and 8% respectively.

Job Seeker Interest Dynamics

Candidate activity generally mirrored labor market trends and employer needs. The number of applications for energy specialist positions rose by 32%, and for electrician roles by 28%.

The most dramatic spike in interest was recorded in the generator repair segment, where applications surged by 169%. Despite the number of vacancies for generator repair technicians increasing by only 5%, the number of applicants seeking such jobs grew 2.7 times.

Salary Levels

Median salaries increased over the year across almost all professions related to heating season preparation. The highest offered pay among the studied specialties was recorded for heating system installers at 48,000 UAH per month.

For locksmiths and electricians, median earnings reached 40,000 UAH, while electromechanics earned 39,000 UAH. Energy specialists are offered around 33,000 UAH, and boiler operators receive 20,000 UAH per month.

Regional Distribution of Vacancies

The highest concentration of technical specialist job postings in August was recorded in Kyiv region. Employers in this region offer higher salaries compared to the national average.

Significant demand for such workers also persists in Poltava, Odesa, Lviv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Vinnytsia oblasts. Competition for skilled personnel is forcing companies to raise wages even without massive staff expansions.
