Almost 70 kopecks of every hryvnia come from international partners
During the preparation of the state budget for the next year, the main priorities remain the funding of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, assistance to national business, and the protection of vulnerable segments of the population. This was stated by Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk during a briefing in Kharkiv. This was reported by Ukrinform, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The country’s main legislative body is processing the draft estimate under martial law, when the key volume of funding is directed to the needs of the defense sector. According to Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk, a significant portion of expenditures is provided through external assistance from Ukraine’s international partners.
Limiting payments to officials
«I am deeply convinced that during the war there should be a maximum amount of salary paid from the budget», — Ruslan Stefanchuk stated. The politician emphasized that under conditions of armed aggression, the state must establish clear limits on remuneration for certain officials to avoid excessive spending of state resources.
The head of parliament emphasized the need to introduce strict restrictions on payments reaching million-dollar amounts. In his view, every budgetary hryvnia must be used as rationally and fairly as possible toward a society suffering from the consequences of hostilities.
Social justice and amendments
Parliamentarians are preparing a number of proposals to the country’s main financial document regarding the redistribution of resources in favor of socially important sectors. In particular, the initiatives are aimed at supporting higher education institutions and providing social protection for citizens.
«I want to prepare those amendments that will, on the one hand, provide an opportunity for budget revenues, and on the other hand — redistribution within the country for fairer purposes… For us, the priority is the Armed Forces of Ukraine, support for Ukrainian business, support for Ukrainian low-income citizens», — the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada stressed.
Each additional initiative regarding the allocation of funds must be accompanied by a clear justification of funding sources. The Cabinet of Ministers has already approved the draft law on the state estimate and submitted it to the members of parliament for consideration.
