Ukraine has developed a new laser complex “Trident” for the destruction of “Shahed.” The new system is capable of hitting drones at a distance of up to 5 kilometers and works with elements of artificial intelligence.

The development of Celebra Tech was integrated into a mobile trailed platform, which allows you to quickly move the system between positions and quickly cover the desired directions.
Currently, the complex is undergoing final tests before the official presentation, but already demonstrates effective work against air targets.
What opportunities does Trident have
According to the developers, the complex is capable of destroying reconnaissance drones at a distance of up to 1,500 meters. For FPV drones, the effective range of destruction is about 800-900 meters.
At the same time, Celebra Tech claims that the system is almost ready to work at much longer distances.
“Today, Trident is practically capable of reaching a target at a distance of 5 km – this will effectively shoot down a Shahed-type UAV,” the company said.
Trailed design makes the complex mobile and suitable for both the front and for the protection of strategic objects and enterprises. The system is also planned to be used for remote demining of territories.
Artificial intelligence and work with radars
The developers have equipped the Trident with an automatic donation system based on artificial intelligence.
The complex can independently capture air targets and accompany them without operator intervention.
In addition, the laser was synchronized with radar stations, which allows you to obtain accurate data on the flight path of drones and reduce reaction time.
During the defeat, the laser beam can disable the drone’s electronics or set fire to its body.
History of development
For the first time, the creation of the Trident complex became known in December 2024, when the first commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces Vadim Sukharevsky remembered him.
In April 2025, the system was first publicly demonstrated in work. Then the complex successfully hit a ground target, and also tested against an FPV drone on fiber.
During the tests, the laser was able to instantly blind the camera of the drone, because of which the device lost control and image transmission.
